About Nohemi Medrano

Courage to heal

You have taken one of the most difficult steps in healing, which is using your courage to look for help and reach out.

And although this can be difficult, it can also be the best step you take for yourself, for your future and for your well-being.

I will be honored to walk this path with you and to support your healing journey.

Woman holding flowers

If you decide to start your healing journey with me, this is what you can expect of me and the way I work.

Some of my goals as a therapist in the therapy process are to build a safe space for you, where you can comfortably process and discuss your concerns.

To build a trustworthy therapist-client relationship, where you feel safe to share with me some of your struggles, the things you have been through, your challenges and successes too.

Hand holding a compass in nature

I believe in tailoring treatment for your specific needs and presenting concerns.

I am determined to listen and to understand the emotions that you are having and the situations that may be holding you back from enjoying your life in the present.

I am determined to help you move along the challenges and help you look within to find your strengths and skills. I am eager to share with you the skills that have helped many of my clients.

But, it all starts with you taking the first step.

It all starts with you taking the chance in focusing on yourself and doing the healing that you deserve.

What does therapy actually look like?

First we’ll have a consultation call to determine that I can help you and that we are the right fit. I truly believe that the therapeutic relationship is as important as the treatment itself. I will ask you about the current challenges that you are experiencing that made you reach out for help.

During our initial session, I will assess your needs, concerns and strengths in order to provide the right treatment. As treatment continues, you will be in charge of your healing, you will have the right to voice your thoughts and feelings as raw as you experience them.

I will support you in giving a voice to the things that you need to process and let out. I will teach you the skills to regulate, to move along, to make things easier for you and to make life more enjoyable.

What do I use to help you make the transformation happen?

I work using:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Structural Family Therapy
  • I also draw tools from Narrative Therapy, Gottman's Method and Play Therapy.

Wondering whether now is the right time for therapy?

You have the power to make the decision. Only YOU know how much you desire for things to get better, for the struggle to diminish, for having an increased ability to regulate your emotions or not be affected by the memories or trauma that you may have experienced in the past.

If you feel ready to take that step, I am here to support you and start your healing journey.

Also, as I stated before, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is as important as the treatment itself. And I know how difficult it can be to build trust with a stranger, so here is a little bit about me.
How my interest in therapy started..

About Me

How I got started in therapy…

My interest in therapy started in my home country (Mexico). While growing up, I saw my mother set aside specific time to go and visit the elderly in the community. She would go see them just to check-in and talk to them.

And there it was! I realized the impact of having someone to talk to… And since high school, I knew this was what I wanted to do.

I moved to the United States at the age of 15, and started my journey to become a therapist in my second semester of college, and it has been one of the best decisions in my life.

I now get to see the transformations in my clients, the empowered they become, the healed emotional wounds, and the many stories of success. I also get to see the amazing human qualities of resilience and strength.
